There’s A New Format for Mutton Bustin’!
The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo is stepping up the competition for Mutton Bustin’ participants. This year, there will be an entire area, the Kids Zone, devoted to this increasingly popular and entertaining competitive event. Here’s are the details:
From October 4 – 9, the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo will have 2 Mutton Bustin’ performances per day in the Kids Zone tent outside. The top 5 scores from each performance will return 2 days later to ride in the Semi-Finals during the All American ProRodeo Finals inside the Extraco Coliseum. The first and second place winners from each Semi-Finals round will advance to ride on Saturday, October 12, in the Mutton Bustin’ Championship round during the rodeo.
Participants will hold the wool of the animal and ride for 6 seconds. The child may use 1 or 2 hands. Mutton Bustin’ participants must be between the ages of 4 and 7 years old and weight 45 pounds or less the day they ride. Children will be weighed before they ride so please know what the child weighs before you arrive as there will be no refunds if they are disqualified. Helmets and vests will be provided and must be worn.
