Fishing and BBQ Champs Named at Second Annual South 40 Outdoor Expo

The Extraco Events Center’s second annual South 40 Outdoor Expo, presented by Fun Town RV, was a success with over 4,500 in attendance.  During the two-day event the South 40 Shootout Tournament Champion and BBQ Cook-Off crowned new champions.
 
TheSouth 40 Shootout Championship, presented by Allen Samuels Dodge Chrysler JeepRam Fiat, paid out $10,000 to the winning team of Kendal Lovett and Mitchell Friedman, 2014 South 40 Shootout Champions.  Second place team Casey Bennett and Justin Bullard received $3,000 and
third place team Josh Lessman and Billy Brewer received $2,000.
 
This year’s South 40 BBQ Cook-Off, presented by Waco Custom Meats & Seafood, had 24 individual teams and 14 corporate teams sweating it out over the barbeque pit.Boss Hog was named Grand Champion on the individual side.  Grand Champion on the corporate side was awarded to WB Mega Bytes sponsored by WB Computer Services.  The Reserve Grand Champion on the corporate side went to Waco 100.  And Summit Electric locked up third place on the corporate side.
 
This free event also included aquatic and archery demonstrations, outdoor and indoor lifestyle exhibitors, kids’ activities, a rock climbing wall and the South 40 Showdown Car Show. 
 
The objective of the South 40 Outdoor Expo Committee is to produce the premier Outdoor Expo in Central Texas by offering educational seminars and demonstrations, showcasing outdoor and indoor exhibitors and commercial vendors while fulfilling their mission to support the youth of Central Texas through scholarships.  All proceeds from the South 40 Outdoor Expo benefit the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo Scholarship Fund and the Heart O’ Texas Livestock Show.
