Five-Time Pro-Bowler to Speak at Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo Scholarship Recognition Banquet

06/06/2014
The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo is excited to announce that former Cowboys tight end Jay Novacek will deliver the address for the Scholarship Recognition Banquet underwritten by Bailey Insurance.

Jay Novacek played in the National Football League (NFL) for the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals (1985–1989) and the Dallas Cowboys (1990–1995).  Novacek was a five-time Pro-Bowler, who was selected to play each year from 1991 through 1995.  He was a key contributor for Dallas in the early 1990s, assisting them to three Super Bowl wins in four seasons.  After playing his last game in Super Bowl XXX in 1996, Novacek officially retired from the NFL on July 15, 1997.  He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

Novacek currently serves as spokesperson for the Alltel Wireless “Yards 4 Youth Football” program in West Texas.  He also co-stars in commercials for friend Bob Lovell of Home Marketing Services in Dallas.  Additionally, he owns his own private hunting ranch in Brady, Nebraska.

On Thursday, June 26th, 33 Central Texas students and their families will come together to hear inspiring words from Jay Novacek and receive their scholarships totaling $49,000 for the 2013-14 academic year.  This continues the Fair & Rodeo’s tradition and mission of giving back through youth scholarships.  Since its beginning, the Heart O’ Texas Fair
& Rodeo has committed more than $2 million to the youth of Central Texas.

The Extraco Events Center, home of the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo, is the center of entertainment in Central Texas.  Its mission is to produce events for education, entertainment and agricultural experiences while giving back through youth scholarships.  The premier facilities host over 225 events with an attendance of 420,000 and a $47 million economic impact annually.  The 2014 Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo will be held October 2–11.  For more information about the Extraco Events Center, visit ExtracoEventsCenter.com.  For more information about the Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo, visit hotfair.com.
